Stop spewing ignorance---Kofi Akpaloo tells Akwapem Poloo's fans

The Leader and Founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo has asked a section of Ghanaians who have been defending incarcerated socialite Akuapem Poloo to stop displaying their ignorance about the case.

According to him, what Akuapem Poloo did is shameful and women shouldn’t support this act of shamefulness.

“Stop spewing absolute ignorance without deeper thought or a scruple principle,” Kofi Akpaloo told Reynold Agyemang on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7

We must always allow the law to work,Akuapem Poloo is not better than the people in the prison so she should face the law,”he added

He condemned those who are calling for the head of the judge who sentenced Akuapem Poloo or Rosemond Brown to 90 days in jail.

Poloo, born Rosemond Brown, was handed a 90 days jail sentence by the Accra Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Christina Cann. The conviction was the result of a naked picture she posted with her son on Instagram while celebrating the boy’s seventh birthday. Her punishment is to serve as a disincentive to others due to the alarming rate of nudity in Ghana’s social media space.

Charges and counts

The actress was convicted on her own plea, after she had pleaded guilty to three counts of publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence namely a conduct that in any way undermined another person’s privacy or integrity, and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracted or was likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.

The court had postponed sentence to Friday pending a pregnancy test after it convicted her of the offence on April 14.

Guilty and convicted

This was after the actress had pleaded guilty and convicted on her own plea to the charges.

The three charges included, publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence namely a conduct that in any way undermined another person’s privacy or integrity, and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracted or was likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.

The actress had originally pleaded not guilty to the counts when she was first arraigned in November last year but later changed her plea to guilty on April 14 this year.
