The Catholic Diocese of Damongo in the West Gonja Municipal of the Savannah Region has launched a strategic plan to be implemented within a period of five years starting from 2021 to 2026.
In launching the Diocesan Strategic Plan, the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev.Peter Paul Angkyier indicated that the strategic plan is a product of hard work and dedication, drawing from past and the present challenges, to set up a blueprint for the attainment of the vision and mission of the diocese as enshrined in the core values as a local church.
The plan according to him covers the following thematic areas for action:
Policy, governance and institutions;
Pastoral care, ministry and
Integral Human Development: health, agriculture and livelihoods; education
Advocacy and networking;
Good governance, Justice and Peaceful Co-existence
He affirmed its authenticity, and duly launch it to the glory of God, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
"We owe a debt of gratitude to all pastoral agents, the Religious men and women, the lay faithful of the diocese of Damongo, for their enthusiasm, keen interest, active participation as well as their spirit of perseverance throughout the various stages of the process. We are equally grateful to Christians of other confessions and non-Christians within the diocese as well as government institutions for the role they played to facilitate this planning process. Our sincere gratitude goes to Professor Francis Z. L. Bacho and Mr Callistus Doozie-Kpikakpe, our Facilitators, for accepting our invitation to come and take us through the planning process," he said.
The man of God urged all stakeholders to come on board to ensure the realization of the plan, adding that,"we rely on effective collaboration and networking with government institutions and departments, faith-based organizations,the traditional institutions, NGOs and other stakeholders to make any meaningful impact on the development of our people in the various sectors at the local level".
Various stakeholders pledged their total commitment towards the full implementation and realization of the thematic areas of the plan.
