Stephen Bernard Donkor: Are you a heaven or hell candidate?

As a writer, I’m inspired by everything around me. The many negative matters of our society today makes me bleed.

Christians all over the world believe in life after death. Their core objective is to inherit the kingdom on the last day. In view of this, majority takes delight in doing everything humanely possible to attain this all-important religious objective. Some of them take to the streets to engage in donations of all sort among other compelling interventions to rescue the perishing and care for the dying. The book of Romans 2:6-8 says that “He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury”

I am a believer so to speak so believing in life after death is no news to me. As enshrined in Philippians 2:12 that “Continue to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Every Christian knows his deserving destination before death except for purposes of deception. The reason is simple. The Bible indicates that by their deeds you will know them. Being judgmental hasn’t been part of me since time immemorial. However, every staunch Christian knows within himself that heaven is his final home or otherwise. Have you ever thought of how people fear to die yet want to be candidates of heaven? It is often believed that some are fully prepared to inherit God’s kingdom. Others are just doing the usual face service. Any student who is academically inclined knows that writing an exam is just a mere hurdle because of his adequate preparation and that success awaits him. His other counterpart who isn’t academically good knows that failure glares from afar. Is either he resorts to blaming the West African Examination Council (WAEC) or the subject teachers. Really?

If you will make heaven you know, if you won’t you know. It’s just like writing an exam. There are quite a number of genuine pastors around the world. Their main objective is to protect the flock from veering off the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Others are also fake and resort to swindling people. The same God but different pastors. Should Jesus Christ appear in his glory today, ask yourself where do you belong? The church to an extent is gradually veering off the biblical principles of Christianity. Today, some churches have Universities to help in the human resource development of the country. It is advantageous to them. Meanwhile, the poor farmer, who continues to pay his tithe and offering is not able to foot his ward’s bills in these same schools. Is that what Jesus Christ taught us? Is God not all-loving anymore? Is God not merciful anymore? I bleed for my nation. The church that should have been a transformational avenue is now a place of showcasing nudity, pride, wickedness just to mention but a few.

Ghana could have been heaven on earth if our leaders had embraced the fact that they would be accountable to their maker one day. All these winner takes all attitude and corrupt activities on the part of some Ministers would have been reduced to its barest minimum. I bleed for my nation because despite the number of church activities in the capital, wicked behaviours are prevalent.

Certainly, God Almighty is good, loving and kind. However, some people are not willing to demonstrate genuine love. Deep within them, they know they won’t make heaven even if God decides to reduce the marking scheme and for that matter the entry requirement.

I believe that we should all embrace love and be each other’s keeper. We shouldn’t hide behind the gospel and indulge in sinful acts. Jesus Christ loves you. Don’t be a candidate of Hell.

Read light on hypocrisy and corruption. Let love lead.
