
A leading member of the NPP in the Sunyani West Constituency, Theophilus Asomah Kyeremeh has presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and school uniforms to some basic schools in the Sunyani West Municipality.
The donation was meant to augment government's efforts at protecting pupils in the various schools within the constituency and to ensure the safety of school-going children while welcoming them back to school after about ten months of brake due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The beneficiary schools are, Chiraa R/C Primary School, Unique International School, Odomase SDA Basic School, Dumasua R/C Primary School, Nsoatre Presby B. Primary school and Fiapre Methodist school.
Others were Chiraa RC Primary School, Odumase S.D.A. Basic School, Nsoatre Presby B Primary, Dumasua R/C Primary School where Mr. Theophilus had his basic education and Fiapre Methodist Primary.
Presenting the items, Mr. Asomah Kyeremeh noted that the NPP government was committed to ensuring the safety of students especially now when schools have been reopened across the country.
He called for a closer collaboration among all stakeholders in fighting the pandemic, which has so far claimed several tens of thousands of lives across the globe while many others are still battling with the disease at the hospital.
“What this pandemic has taught us is that, as a nation, we cannot sit in our corners. We cannot be divided, we cannot live separated as if we are not one Nation. This pandemic has taught us that we are interconnected in ways that we have never imagined before and it is this interconnections that our full humanity sits”, he added.
Mr. Asomah Kyeremeh tasked management and staff of the schools to enforce and ensure students abide by the laid down protocols by wearing of nose mask, practicing social distancing, washing of hands regularly with soap under running water, the use of hand sanitizers, avoiding handshakes, among others.
