The Upper East Regional Secretariat of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sent words of felicitations to the Minister designate for the region, Hon. Stephen Yakubu on his nomination by the President.

The former Member of Parliament for Binduri who also served as the ambassador to Morocco for the past four years was nominated by President Akufo-Addo to head the Upper East Region if vetted and approved by Parliament.

Applauding the President for the nomination, the Secretariat called for partnership with the minister nominee to continue the Pwalugu Multi-Purpose Dam project to help boost business in the region.

"We look forward to working closely with him to see to the completion of the 993 million US Dollar Pwalugu Multi-Purpose Dam project which will benefit various sectors of the economy including; irrigation, fisheries, power generation, and flood control. We will also partner with you for an expanded Planting for Food and Jobs, Rearing for Food and Jobs among others for the development and benefits of our people in the region".

THE UPPER EAST REGIONAL SECRETARIAT OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY CONGRATULATES HON. STEPHEN YAKUBU ON HIS NOMINATION AS THE REGIONAL MINISTER DESIGNATE

The Upper East Regional Chairman and the Regional Executives of the NPP congratulate His Excellency, Hon. Stephen Yakubu on his nomination as the Minister-Designate for the Upper East Region.

We want to express our appreciation to H. E. the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the nomination of a true Patriot and Son as our Regional Minister-Designate.

Hon. Stephen Yakubu was a Member of Parliament for Binduri Constituency from 7th January 2009 to 6th January 2013. He served in various roles in Parliament and outside of it.

He was appointed as a Coordinator for settler communities leading to 2016 elections, where he and others were tasked to take care of eighteen(18) settler communities, where the party has not been performing well. They successfully achieved their mandate by snacking new seats in parliament as well as appreciation in the Presidential votes across the eighteen(18) constituencies.

In July 2017, he was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Ghana's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco.

He has worked very hard for Party, Government and Country, it is therefore not surprising that he been recognized with this new assignment. It is well-deserved.
