Efiewura TV Series Needs Commendation: The Longest Running Local Production On Gh. TV

It is clear and obvious that the people who love local series would do that because they hate the imported foreign telenovelas on our tv screens which is gradually degrading our culture and lifestyle. Though there has been consistent demands by the populace to take away such programmes on our television screens, it is rather becoming difficult because of the people involved in that trade and business venture.

If radio and television station managers are saying they cannot ignore the foreign telenovelas because of money, then where lies the fate of people who want such foreign stuff to get off our television screens. They will fight in vain. Over the past weeks, the series Afia Schwarzenegger has been under attack from different platforms and quarters with the huge one being actors guild president Mr Odoi Mensah warning executive producer Deloris Frimpong Manso aka Delay not to hold any charged auditions. Actually, Delay was not perturbed by such distractions but went ahead to hold the auditions peacefully and smoothly. Therefore all things being equal, Delay will be presenting to television viewers a new Afia Schwarzenegger character soon.

One area which was also tackled during the attacks on the Afia Schwarzenegger show was how weak or strong the story line of the series has been over the years that it has been showing on television. Flex newspaper put a story out on that issue with the headline 'IS THE STORY LINE OF AFIA SCHWARZENEGGER DEAD' and we had differing views from our readers across the length and breadth of this country.

Most of them were of the view that they cannot really deduce what the series is trying to portray especially with their story lines. 'Sometimes you feel the people just come together to create scenes and act it here and there without thinking of a drama in mind. In fact that series does not have a story line at all and I hope that the producer and the director will get to know this else they will change characters for several years and nothing will work for them as much as competition is concerned.

The first character of Afia Schwarzenegger Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa has also added her voice to this saying when she started, there was a story line and a task she was to follow but as it stands, she does not know what the series is teaching and showcasing to its viewers.

Whilst thinking aloud about the good and the bad sides of Afia Schwarzenegger, we were alerted by some influential people in the television production business to consider the efforts of the producers of the hit tv series Efiewura. This respected son of our land asked us to pay particular attention to the storyline, characters and consistency of that production. Truthfully, they have been consistent with their works and we say so far, so good. Therefore in this week`s edition of Flex newspaper, we will be trying our best to look at the impact local tv production Efiewura has had on its viewers.

EFIEWURA meaning 'LANDLORD' is a local television series which has been running on Tv3 and other channels for close to a decade or more. The main plot of the production centres around the difficulties and the good sides in connection with living in a commercial house with a 'hard to beat' land lord who wants things to be done in his way and nothing else. Aside the landlord who is a hard nut to crack, the house also contains some unpredictable characters who are capable of fueling issues at any point in time. This is what has been keeping the series all this while, so just imagine the efforts one has to put in such a production to achieve higher results.

May be something very powerful is working for producer Kofi Andoh which seems to be his strength over the years that his competitors do not have. Fact is that Efiewura has paraded some of the best actors and actresses ever in this industry and it continues to bring in more influential people in the entertainment industry without fear or favour.

Some favourite characters include the ever sober Koo Fori, Kwame Djokoto, Joojo Robertson, Katawere, Auntie Bea, Abeiku Santana, Gloria Sarfo and many more including some departed souls like Araba Stamp and Michael Akoto Moncar (may their souls rest in perfect peace.) With these characters put together, directors and writers are sure to keep television audience close to their television sets when it matters most. Efiewura is the longest local tv series ever to be on television and it will its audience that they are still running without any interruptions.

It is therefore not surprising that the series has won several awards in television awards in the country and Kofi Andoh seems to know no turning back as it keeps enjoying sponsorship from some corporate firms in the country. Flex newspaper will be delving deep into their production to bring readers up to speed with latest on their productions and what makes them thick in that regard. Watch out for more soon.
