Stop and Listen

I. BRETHREN IN THE LORD, have you stop listening to God? Beloved, are you listening? What are you listening? Yes! it is only people who are alive who can listen, the dead don't listen. A dead body in a mortuary cannot read or hear a sermon. A corpse cannot hear a call. A spiritually dead person can sit in church for 20 years and never hear God. Unfortunately, today, we live in the loudest generation in human history. We are surrounded by noise, but starved of voice — the Voice that matters most. I ask you today again and again are you spiritually alive? Do you hear His voice? When was the last time you heard Him? Stop running; Stop scrolling; Stop talking; simply . In 1 Samuel 3, young Samuel was sleeping in the temple, and God called him: “Samuel! Samuel! Samuel! Samuel thought it was Eli, the Prophet calling him. He did not yet know the voice of God. Many of us are like Samuel. God is calling our names in our dreams, in our conscience, in our circumstances, in our pain but we think it is something else. We think it is stress. We think it is our thoughts. We think it is coincidence.

II. CHILD OF GOD, in today’s world many are distracted. Martha was busy serving, but Mary was sitting and listening to Christ. Jesus said Mary chose the better part. (Luke 10:42). Beloved, activity without listening becomes anxiety. Service without listening becomes burnout. Ministry without listening becomes noise. God is calling you out of noise into nearness. Christ Jesus said: “My sheep hear my voice.” If you cannot hear the Shepherd, check your life. Are you still a sheep, or have you become a goat wandering far from the fold? If your heart no longer feels conviction, if sin no longer bothers you, if the Word no longer moves you, if prayer feels dead you may be spiritually asleep, or spiritually dying. But today is resurrection day. God can wake you up again. (Psalm 46:10) “Be still, and know that I am God.” You cannot hear a whisper in a storm you created. God often does not shout. He whispers. Elijah expected God in wind, earthquake and fire. But God was in the “still small voice.” (1 Kings 19:12). If you are always talking in prayer, you will never hear God answer. Prayer is not a monologue, it is a dialogue, you speak and then you listen. Today, just to God once more.

III. SON OF MAN, you cannot claim to listen to God if you refuse to read what He has already written. The Bible is God speaking in written form. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16). How can you say, “God, speak to me," when you have not opened the letter He had already sent to you? We read WhatsApp messages daily. We read Facebook daily. We read news daily. We read gossip daily. But we say we have no time to read the Bible? Are we really serious as Christians? We have time to read anything but the Bible. Christ Jesus taught us to pray: “Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11). You need both physical and spiritual food. You cannot survive on Sunday sermons alone; it is not enough to carry you through Monday to Saturday warfare. Job said, "I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” (Job 23:12). Read It Daily Because It Keeps You Alive—Without the Word, you walk in darkness, make decisions by feelings, follow trends and people blindly, and you fall into traps. With the Word daily, you discern, you are corrected, cleansed, and you are strengthened.

IV. DAUGHTER OF ZION, physically dead people don’t hear, and spiritually dead people don’t hear either. (Revelation 3:1) To the church in Sardis, Jesus Christ said: “Thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.” You can have a name and a title, and you can have a church position, have a Christian name, and still be dead spiritually. But there is hope! Ezekiel stood in the valley of dry bones and prophesied, and the bones lived again. (Ezekiel 37). If you are spiritually dead, God can breathe on you again today. If you are spiritually sleeping, God can wake you up today. Are you alive? When was the last time you heard from God? I mean you heard from God directly? When was the last time you sat in silence before God without asking for anything? When was the last time the Word convicted you and you changed? When was the last time you obeyed a small instruction from God immediately? Are you listening to God, or only listening to people about God? Remember this is a DIVINE NEW DAY PROPHETIC WORD of encouragement sent forth through the authority and power of Christ Jesus and delivered to the brethren through God's vessel, Francis Ameyibor. Yes! Many of us listen to prophets, pastors, YouTube preachers, and TikTok teachers, but we never listen to God directly. Men can guide you, but only God can lead you.

V. 2026 IS OUR YEAR AND SEASON TO BE LIFTED UP—God wants to speak to YOU. Many disasters in life happen because God warned, but we did not listen.

When you listen, you walk with confidence, not confusion. Listening turns religion into a relationship. You stop knowing about God and start knowing God.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, forgive me for noise without nearness, activity without intimacy, and religion without relationship. I have been too busy to listen. Today, I stop. I am still. Speak, Lord, for Thy servant heareth. Open my ears. Open my heart. Give me hunger for Your Word daily. Wake me up if I am sleeping. Raise me up if I am dead. Let me hear Your voice again, and give me grace to obey. In Christ Jesus’ name, Amen.
