A lot of people have been asking to know if Billie Eilish is a lesbian or not since she granted an interview in mid November this year. In the interview, which she did with Variety , the 21-year-old American singer and songwriter opened up about her sexuality.
According to the pop singer, "I've never felt like a woman, to be honest with you. I’ve never felt desirable. I’ve never felt feminine. I have to convince myself that I’m, like, a pretty girl,” Eilish says, adding that "I identify as 'she/her' and things like that, but I’ve never really felt like a girl."
The singer also revealed in the interview that she has "deep connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life. I'm physically attracted to them. But I'm also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence."
Even though Billie Eilish didn't use a specific term to describe her sexuality in the interview, the interviewer described it as a "revelation". This sparked debates as to whether or not the Ocean Eyes crooner belongs to the LGBTQ+ community as a lesbian.
Is Billie Eilish lesbian?
In a follow up interview by the same magazine, Billie Eilish confirmed she is a lesbian and has been doing it for a very long time. The singer made it clear that she's "for the girls." She expressed shock that "people didn't know!."
The Grammy award-wining superstar was at an event organized by Variety on Saturday, December 2, when she confirmed to an interviewer on the red carpet that she is indeed a lesbian, and that she is a pro LGBTQ+.
When asked if she intended to come out in a grand style with her November interview, Billie said, "No I didn’t. But I kind of thought, 'Wasn’t it obvious'?, she said. She added that she "didn’t realize people didn’t know. I just don’t really believe in it. I'm just like, 'Why can't we just exist'? I've been doing this for a long time, and I just didn't talk about it. Whoops."
The singer continued that she is excited people now get to know that she is lesbian.
"But I saw the article, and I was like, 'Oh I guess I came out today.' OK cool. It's exciting to me because I guess people didn't know, but it's cool that they know." "I am for the girls," she concluded.
