The Rise Of Men Using Make-up
Men do actually use make-up and this has been going on for many many years, its common to find some men wearing make under the following circumstances:
When men are being filmed for TV/Photoshoots
When men are acting in live performances
When men are wearing costumes for holidays and other celebratory days
When men have died and are being prepared for the viewing at the funeral parlor
When men have a skins condition and are trying to minimize what others see
When men identify as a women
etc etc… there are many scenarios and we cant possibly name them all, nor do we care to.
But something interesting is happening in our bathrooms and boudoirs that is slowly but surely creeping up and women need to be prepared for it because there is a right way and a wrong way to respond to it. Men, your man in fact, his friends, your colleague, professor and neighbor… these men are now wearing makeup. Not heavy foundation, eyeliner and Hi-def lipstick… no something more subtle like some concealer, a CC cream and some well matched foundation with a nude-ish lip gloss.
Men we spoke to range from those macho man types who said they would rather die than wear make up (and they might very well have to die before they get the chance to finally get some foundation slapped on them) – all the way down to men who were wearing make-up before make up for men became a thing.
Its called corrective skincare… and men all over the world are rocking it. The make up is marketed as zit covering ointments and creams to ensure the appearance of even and smooth skin tone, lip healing balms and a whole host of other serious sounding solutions for everyday problems. The truth be told, its the same old make-up we have been using for ages, but it now has scientific sounding names so that more men buy into it… And here’s the thing- men are buying into it. Men’s beauty products is a huge growth area and many beauty brands are now investing in it.
So how should you as the unsuspecting girlfriend respond when you find your man applying that foundation before he heads out to work? The only correct response is to be open to it (listen i was outvoted and pretty much shut down during our news briefing by nearly everyone else but I’m standing by my position). You my dear need to accept that your man wants to look hot, and that’s literally why men should be allowed to wear makeup. everyone want to look their best, why not men?
