Gospel musician Empress Gifty has come to the defence of Florence Obinim following public criticism and speculation about the latter’s appearance, with some social media users suggesting she had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
Speaking in a video shared on social media on November 1, 2026, Empress Gifty questioned why some people, particularly women, had resorted to mocking Florence instead of considering the physical and emotional challenges associated with undergoing cosmetic surgery.
She argued that undergoing surgery requires courage and that people who have experienced such procedures understand the anxiety and uncertainty involved.
Empress Gifty further criticised the tendency to make celebrities targets of public ridicule simply because of personal decisions they make about their bodies.
“Florence Obinim went for a programme, and when you read the comments, people were talking about BBL. What is even more disappointing is that some of the comments came from women. Do you even have the courage to enter the theatre?” she questioned.
The gospel musician also shared her personal experience, revealing that she had previously undergone a procedure to reduce the size of her breasts.
According to her, she made the decision after losing weight and becoming concerned about maintaining firm skin and preventing her breasts from sagging.
She explained that she conducted extensive research before undergoing the procedure and made the decision because she could afford it and believed it would improve her appearance.
Empress Gifty maintained that people should be allowed to make personal choices about their bodies without being labelled artificial or subjected to unnecessary criticism.
She also urged social media users to stop projecting their personal frustrations onto public figures, reminding them that celebrities equally deal with challenges away from the spotlight.
Meanwhile, speculation that Florence Obinim has undergone a BBL remains unconfirmed.
