The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has denied claims that she is inaccessible to her Deputy Chief Executive Officer, insisting that she operates an open-door policy, particularly for executive and senior management officers.
In a letter addressing concerns about access to her office for official consultations and decision-making, Mrs Houadjeto said she was surprised and disappointed that the concerns raised did not reflect the true state of her availability.
She emphasised that effective communication, timely decision-making and close coordination among the Authority's executive management were essential to the efficient discharge of their respective responsibilities.
According to her, the GTA, as an institution responsible for advancing Ghana's tourism industry, must operate on the principles of professionalism, mutual respect, accountability and collective responsibility.
She acknowledged that the responsibilities of the Deputy CEO, particularly in domestic tourism, special events, marketing and other assigned duties, require timely consultations and decisions on matters with operational, financial, strategic or stakeholder implications.
Mrs Houadjeto, however, maintained that appropriate arrangements must be established to ensure that urgent matters receive the necessary attention without undue delay.
She said communication gaps that could impede the execution of official assignments must be identified and addressed promptly in the interest of the Authority.
The CEO reiterated her commitment to strengthening executive coordination, improving operational efficiency and advancing the strategic objectives of the GTA.
She also expressed confidence that members of the executive management team would continue working collaboratively, with mutual respect and a shared commitment to the Authority's mandate.
