Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has opened up about the personal habits and values he believes have helped him remain committed to one woman throughout his 57-year marriage.
Edochie spoke on Sunday, October 4, 2026, during his Legacy Gala night after an audience member asked him for advice on what had helped him marry one woman and remain with her for decades.
The respected actor said he married early and has managed to stay focused despite spending decades in the public eye.
According to him, his lifestyle has played an important role in keeping him grounded. He said he spends much of his time at home reading, listening to classical music and keeping himself occupied with different activities.
“I married early. I've been married for 57 years. It is difficult to do, but it's true. And I don't get distracted easily,” Edochie said.
The actor also described classical music as “music for cerebral appreciation,” explaining that it does not attract his attention in directions he considers destructive.
Edochie further revealed that his Christian faith has remained an important part of his life and personal discipline.
However, the veteran actor was quick to avoid presenting himself as a perfect husband or role model. He acknowledged that his experience was personal and should not necessarily be treated as a universal formula for marriage.
“It doesn't mean I'm a wonderful man. No, no,” he told the audience.
