Rex Omar should be sacked – MC Yaa Yeboah

Media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has called for the resignation or removal of Rex Omar, the Presidential Staffer responsible for the Black Star Experience, following comments he made about the state of Ghana’s economy and its impact on the entertainment industry.

Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, September 26, 2026, MC Yaa Yeboah argued that Rex Omar’s explanation does not align with the agenda of the current administration and questioned why someone occupying such a position would publicly highlight economic difficulties as a reason Ghanaians may not be able to attend entertainment events.

Her comments followed remarks by Rex Omar concerning the Black Star Experience. Rex Omar had urged Ghanaians to be patient with the initiative, explaining that the economic situation was affecting the entertainment industry and other sectors. He used the example of someone struggling to afford food and questioned why such a person would use their limited resources to attend a concert or watch a movie.

MC Yaa Yeboah described the comments as problematic, arguing that they could undermine the government's efforts to project improvements in the economy. She questioned the suitability of such messaging from a presidential staffer whose responsibility is connected to promoting Ghana's creative and entertainment sector.

According to MC Yaa Yeboah, Rex Omar should either resign and preserve his dignity or be removed from the position. She also suggested that he should consider having a public relations professional speak on his behalf to avoid further controversy surrounding his public comments.
