Criss Waddle reacts to Stonebwoy and Sarkodie’s recent X banter

Ghanaian rapper Criss Waddle has shared his thoughts on the recent public back-and-forth between music heavyweights Stonebwoy and Sarkodie, stressing that both artistes are grown men capable of making their own decisions.

“I think they’re both grown men with successful careers, so whatever decision they make for themselves is best for them,” Criss Waddle said.

His comments come at a time when Stonebwoy and Sarkodie have been exchanging pointed messages on X, reigniting discussions about their relationship and the dynamics within Ghana’s music industry.

The latest exchange started after Sarkodie cautioned artistes and their fanbases against using online attacks and unnecessary rivalry to promote their favourite brands. Stonebwoy subsequently responded directly to the rapper, questioning the principle behind the message and referring to previous conversations between the two.

Stonebwoy revealed that he had called Sarkodie after the rapper’s UK show to congratulate him, with the conversation reportedly lasting more than 10 minutes. He further claimed that after his own performance at London’s OVO Arena Wembley, Sarkodie made another social media post which he felt required clarification. Stonebwoy later said the two had another lengthy conversation about industry behaviour, relationships and principles.

Stonebwoy subsequently told Sarkodie that “without principle, advice is an opinion,” arguing that public advice should be consistent with the principles one demonstrates.

Sarkodie, however, pushed back against Stonebwoy’s interpretation of his posts and said he had never deliberately used social media to throw indirect shots at him. He also questioned why Stonebwoy had connected the general posts to himself.

“What is your problem?” Sarkodie asked in his response, adding that if he genuinely had an issue with Stonebwoy, he would not have repeatedly reached out to him privately or invited him to his Rapperholic show.

The exchange later moved beyond the two artistes, with their respective managers also becoming involved. Sarkodie’s manager, Angel Town, shared screenshots of WhatsApp conversations after Stonebwoy referenced him in his post, while Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Stylz, subsequently criticised the decision to make private communications public.
