“We don’t have a problem, Mark Okraku Mantey used you against me” — Shatta Wale tells Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has reignited discussions surrounding his long-standing relationship with fellow dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, claiming that music executive and politician Mark Okraku Mantey once used Stonebwoy against him.

According to Shatta Wale, he and Stonebwoy do not necessarily have a personal problem, suggesting that some of the rivalry between them was influenced by people within the music industry.

“We don’t have a problem, Mark Okraku Mantey used you against me,” Shatta Wale said while addressing the issue.

His comments have brought back a controversial revelation made by Mark Okraku Mantey during his time as Programmes Manager at Hitz FM.

In September 2022, Okraku Mantey publicly explained why he had sidelined Shatta Wale and supported Stonebwoy. According to him, Hitz FM had invited Shatta Wale for an interview, but the artiste turned down the invitation in what he described as a rude manner.

“Shatta Wale was rude. We invited him for an interview and he turned it down so we decided to blacklist him,” Okraku Mantey was reported to have said.

He further disclosed that the decision to blacklist Shatta Wale was accompanied by increased support for Stonebwoy.

“So we decided to support Stonebwoy and make him a hero because he was not rude. So we decided to play a lot of Stonebwoy’s songs,” he stated.
