TikTok sensation Obaapa Christy Ba has revealed how her relationship with gospel musician Obaapa Christy has helped open new opportunities for her in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
Speaking on Adom TV in an interview with Abena Ghana, Obaapa Christy Ba disclosed that although she had previously featured in a few small movie projects, it was Obaapa Christy who encouraged her to take part in a major movie project.
She explained that Obaapa Christy suggested that they should produce a movie to support a project she was working on.
“That is how we shot a major movie recently, even though I had done small movies in the past,” she said.
According to her, her growing relationship with Obaapa Christy has gone beyond social media content, with the gospel musician now playing an important role in her development within the entertainment industry.
Obaapa Christy Ba said her journey into entertainment has been shaped by a combination of opportunity, perseverance and the support she received from people around her.
She recalled that when she first attended Obaapa Christy’s “Sing Like Obaapa” programme in Accra, she was encouraged by her manager to remain confident and do exactly what she had been doing on TikTok if she was given the opportunity to perform.
Her appearance at the programme eventually resulted in a memorable encounter with Obaapa Christy, who prayed for her and gave her a pair of slippers as a symbolic gesture.
For Obaapa Christy Ba, the gesture represented hope and the possibility of one day reaching the level of success achieved by the woman she is often said to resemble.
She said the experience strengthened her determination to pursue entertainment professionally.
Having grown up in a financially challenged home, Obaapa Christy Ba said she has learnt to remain patient and avoid rushing through life.
She believes her experiences have taught her that success takes time and that people must be willing to work patiently towards their goals.
She also dismissed the idea that success requires leaving Ghana, saying she intends to build her career in the country.
“This is the job I want to do and I am doing it. I don’t believe in leaving Ghana to go to another country,” she said.
Obaapa Christy Ba is currently gaining recognition for her TikTok content, movie appearances and music, while her resemblance to Obaapa Christy continues to attract public attention.
She has also been nominated for an award in the Discovery category, a development she said makes her happy and grateful for the recognition.
