Ghanaian musician, traditional leader and entrepreneur Ahmmed Kanneh Larweh, popularly known as Sparqlyn, has secured two nominations at the 2026 Ghana Youth Empowerment Awards.
The nominations, announced on Friday, August 21, 2026, place Sparqlyn in contention for Youth Empowerment Advocate of the Year and Outstanding Youth Personality of the Year, as he competes with other notable figures for the prestigious honours.
These latest nominations add to what has already been an exceptional period in Sparqlyn’s career. In 2025, he received six major recognitions, including African Best Ghanaian Musician of the Year at the African Performance Leadership Awards in Lagos, and three awards at the Stars Awards. The Stars Awards honoured him for his contribution to Ghanaian and African music and culture, named him Africa Artiste of the Decade, and presented him with a Youth Development Honour.
Sparqlyn’s influence extends beyond music. In January 2023, he was enstooled as the Development Chief of Krobo Odumase, under the title Nene Kanneh Larweh I, Noryam Matse. In this role, he has championed youth development, cultural preservation and community advancement.
A key pillar of his traditional leadership has been education. Sparqlyn runs a scholarship initiative supporting brilliant but financially challenged students in the Krobo area. He has also worked to promote unity among Ga‑Dangme communities, mentor emerging musicians and encourage investment and development across the region.
His commitment to youth empowerment has been recognised by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), which honoured him in 2025 for his contributions to the music industry and his mentorship of young talents.
Beyond music and chieftaincy, Sparqlyn has built a strong entrepreneurial profile. He is the Founder of Sparqlyn Music, and serves as CEO of Med and Med Limited, a real estate development company, as well as Perfect Signature Limited, an import and export firm. His business interests complement his longstanding involvement in construction and real estate, while his philanthropic work continues to focus on creating opportunities for young people and supporting community development.
The latest nominations at the Ghana Youth Empowerment Awards highlight a career that has grown far beyond the recording studio. From his early days with the Hiplife group Dunsin, through his solo music journey, to his roles as development chief, businessman, philanthropist and youth advocate, Sparqlyn continues to build a public profile worthy of national recognition.
With the awards ceremony date yet to be announced, attention now shifts to the voting process — and whether Sparqlyn will add the 2026 Ghana Youth Empowerment Awards to his expanding list of honours.
