Daddy Lumba: Akosua Serwah sues Abusuapanyin Tupac, another for defamation

Akosua Serwah Fosuh, widow of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, has reportedly sued Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, also known as Tupac, and his assistant, Alex Kofi Boadiwaa Ampong, for GH¢3 billion over alleged defamatory statements.

According to the writ filed by her counsel, Osei Frank, the defendants allegedly questioned the authenticity of Akosua Serwah's German marriage certificate on several occasions, including on November 29, 2025, June 8, 2026 and July 5, 2026.

The defendants are alleged to have claimed that the marriage certificate was fake, forged or fabricated and that Akosua Serwah was never legally married to the late musician.

Akosua Serwah has described the claims as false and defamatory, arguing that the statements have damaged her reputation.

She is asking the court to order the defendants to retract the alleged defamatory statements and issue an unqualified public apology.

She also wants the apology published with similar prominence and reach to the alleged defamatory statements, including on UTV, TikTok, and other platforms where the statements were published or republished.

The plaintiff is also seeking any other relief the court considers appropriate in view of the alleged gravity, repetition and impact of the statements.

The defendants have been directed to appear before the court within eight days of being served with the writ, failing which judgment may be entered in their absence.
