Ghanaian Soul, Afrobeats and Hip Hop musician Michael Takyi-Frimpong, known in showbiz as Lord Paper, has said music promotion is expensive.
Speaking on Ekwanso Dwoodwoo hosted by Nana Romeo, he stated that for an artiste to reach a larger audience, “you need to pay huge sums of money to influencers and promoters to trend your song for you, unlike before where one needs to visit two or three radio stations to get your song promoted.”
“I remember when I was promoting my songs back in the days, I could visit Okay FM and a few radio station, the others will catch up and play your music. Now if you are using an influencer, one can charge you about GH¢20,000, and if you are using five people, it will cost you GH¢100,000, which is very expensive,” he stressed.
Lord Paper broke into the mainstream music industry in 2016 with his debut controversial single and video 'Awurama'. The video sparked national debate due to its explicit content. Other popular songs include 'Sika Duro', 'Pono', 'North K', 'Maame Serwaa', 'Dzigbordi', 'Asabone', and 'Love No Catch You Before'.
