Beverly Afaglo laid to rest, Ibrahim Mahama donates GHC200,000

Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo has been laid to rest as family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers gathered to bid farewell to the celebrated actress.

The final funeral rites were held at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra on Saturday, August 8, 2026, bringing together prominent personalities and members of Ghana’s entertainment industry to honour her memory.

Among those who attended the ceremony was businessman Ibrahim Mahama, who made a significant financial contribution towards the funeral arrangements.

Mr Mahama donated GH¢200,000 to the bereaved family, with the announcement made by the master of ceremonies during the funeral.

“Mr Ibrahim Mahama has donated two billion old cedis, GH¢200,000, to the family. Put your hands together in appreciation to him,” the master of ceremonies announced.

The announcement was met with applause from mourners, who expressed their appreciation for the gesture and support for the family during the difficult period.

Beverly Afaglo died on May 24, 2026, at the age of 42, after reportedly battling cancer for about two years.

She was a prominent figure in Ghana’s movie industry and built a career spanning more than two decades, featuring in several Ghanaian film and television productions.

Her death was met with widespread grief among colleagues, fans and industry stakeholders, who remembered her for her contributions to Ghana’s creative arts sector.

She is survived by her husband and two children.

A thanksgiving service in her memory was scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Action Chapel International, where family, friends and loved ones were expected to continue celebrating her life and legacy.
