Music executive and RuffTown Records boss Ricky Nana Agyemang, popularly known as Bullet, has expressed disappointment over Telecel Ghana Music Awards after Wendy Shay failed to win the coveted Artiste of the Year award.
Speaking in an interview with MC Portfolio on Angel FM in Kumasi, Bullet stated that Wendy Shay deserved the top award based on the amount of work she put in throughout the year.
According to him, the singer met all the requirements and expectations needed to win the Artiste of the Year category, adding that he was very confident she would emerge victorious on the night.
Bullet, however, said the outcome of the awards is another indication that Ghana’s music industry does not fully support and appreciate female artistes.
He argued that female musicians often have to put in far more effort than their male counterparts just to receive the same level of recognition.
“Even for a female artiste to get nominated, she has to work three times harder than the male nominees, and that’s exactly what Wendy Shay did,” he stated during the interview.
The RuffTown boss further praised Wendy Shay for her consistency, hit songs, performances, and dedication to her craft, insisting that her contributions over the past year deserved greater recognition.
