'I cried like a baby' — Richie Mensah recounts most embarrassing career moment

Ghanaian singer-songwriter and record producer Richie Mensah has opened up about what he describes as the most embarrassing moment in his music career.

The Lynx Entertainment boss revealed that while working under Wonder World Records, a visiting American music executive harshly criticised his songs during a studio listening session.

The American expert had earlier praised all the songs played during the session and was enjoying the label's production until he got to those of Richie Mensah.

According to Richie Mensah, the experience deeply affected him and nearly shattered his confidence as a young artiste.

“The guy was like, ‘Ah, who's that? That's crap.’ Then they'll play another song of mine and the guy will completely trash the song again,” he recounted.

He explained that the music expert rejected all the songs attributed to him and even advised the label to drop him.

“Basically, he said, ‘Whoever this guy is, drop him from the label, he's not good enough.’ I remember I went home and I cried like a baby,” he said.

Richie Mensah made the revelation while speaking on the Masterminds Podcast, where he interviewed himself as part of activities marking his 40th birthday.

He said the painful criticism eventually became a turning point in his career after encouragement from a friend identified as Sally, who urged him to either give up or work harder to prove his critics wrong.

According to the music executive, the experience pushed him to improve himself and remain focused on achieving success in the music industry.
