Patience Ozokwor Honoured at Regal Film Festival in Accra

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G or G for General, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to her Ghanaian fans for the overwhelming love shown upon her arrival in Accra for the maiden edition of the Regal Film Festival and Awards (REFFA).

Held last Saturday at the Palms Convention Centre, the event brought together selected Nollywood stars, with Mama G receiving a warm welcome from Ghanaian actors including Kalsoume Sinare and Jackie Appiah, who applauded her decades of dedication to African cinema.


Mama G’s Appreciation

On the red carpet, Mama G was visibly moved by the affection:

“I don’t need a soothsayer to tell me I’m loved in Ghana. I’m very happy to be here,” she said.

She later shared on social media:

“I woke up this morning with a grateful heart. Thank you @reffaawards for the honour. Thank you, Ghana. Thank you, Africa. Thank you, #MamaGLovers. Happy to be celebrated while I am still here. Hall of fame recipient #ReffaAwards.”

Citation of Honour

Mama G was presented with a special citation recognizing her extraordinary career and impact on African cinema. The citation praised her:

  • Over three decades of excellence in Nollywood and African film
  • Unmatched versatility and powerful screen presence
  • Ability to embody characters with depth, authenticity, and emotion
  • Contribution to elevating Nollywood to global acclaim
  • Role in inspiring and nurturing the next generation of actors

It concluded by celebrating her as “a pillar of excellence whose work has transcended screens, echoing across homes, cultures, and generations.”
