Ghanaian reggae and kuchoko pioneer Blakk Rasta has reignited his iconic grassroots project, Kuchoko in the Ghetto, with electrifying street performances in Nima on Friday and Fadama on Saturday, powered by live band music.
The 2025 edition of the initiative saw the outspoken artist championing patriotism, unity, and social responsibility, fusing these messages seamlessly with the rhythms of roots African music, known as Kuchoko, for residents in both communities.
After a brief hiatus, the revival of the project was made possible through the support of RNAQ Holdings, Goldbod, Jandel, the Controller and Accountant General’s Office, and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP). Their backing helped restore the immersive, community-centered energy that has long defined the initiative as a standout cultural movement.
Over the two-day outreach, Blakk Rasta energized residents with live music, spoken-word performances, and interactive sessions with youth groups. His message emphasized love for country, discipline, drug awareness, and community empowerment, drawing large crowds that thronged the streets to witness the performances.
The Kuchoko in the Ghetto tour will continue with stops at Ashaiman (Sakasaka Park) on Friday, November 28, and Kasoa (Odusec Park) on Saturday, November 29, marking the final phase of the 2025 edition.
Featuring a powerful mix of music, activism, and cultural pride, the revived project once again positions Blakk Rasta as a leading voice for social change in Ghana’s urban communities. The tour also includes performances by notable artists such as Friction (VIP), Ruki, Osagyefo, Ras Minano (Australia), Kojo Kombolo, and Vibration Kings.
