Dancehall musician Shatta Wale has come out in passionate defence of Ghanaian businessman Kofi Boat, following reports of his arrest by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in connection with an alleged $100 million fraud scheme.
According to media reports, Kofi Boat was taken into custody along with two others identified only as Agony and a third unnamed individual. The trio is accused of participating in a sophisticated financial fraud operation currently under investigation by U.S. authorities.
However, in an emotional Facebook Live video on June 19, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, rejected the fraud allegations, maintaining that Kofi Boat, whom he referred to as his “godfather,” is innocent.
“God, if you are there, make people know that Kofi Boat is not a scammer,” he said during the broadcast, visibly distressed and moved to tears. “Mama Joyce, I'm sorry. I feel bad, Charlie. Because of Kofi, I can't even sleep.”
The artist insisted that the situation was being mischaracterised, claiming that the matter was the result of a failed business deal rather than deliberate fraud.
“Who told you Kofi Boat is a scammer?” he questioned. “It's just a business that went wrong. Do you think Kofi Boat will sit behind a computer and browse people's money? No!”
Shatta Wale also expressed deep sympathy for Kofi Boat’s family, particularly his wife and children, saying he was devastated by what they might be experiencing under the cloud of public scrutiny and legal uncertainty.
As the case continues to attract public attention and speculation, Shatta Wale’s comments have further stirred debate over the facts of the matter and the businessman’s reputation. Meanwhile, no official statement has yet been released by U.S. authorities confirming the specific charges or legal status of Kofi Boat and his alleged accomplices.

Man think of yourself and stop exposing yourself on this matter. If you know you are clean as you claim, why worry about your to the extend that you can't sleep. One thing you must know in life is, friends don't tell you all thier secrets in life just for you to take them as they are. The FBI, will not waste time to come for your friends if they have not found enough grounds to do so. Keep quiet and watch what is going on.
