Agya Koo Wins International Award

DAYS AFTER being honoured by the state for his exploits in the Ghanaian film industry, Kofi Adu Mensah, aka Agya Koo is set to receive another international award in Canada.

The fame and popularity of the ace Ghanaian actor has reached a crescendo as he is billed to emplane to Canada tomorrow July 9 to receive another top award.

“My exploits in the local film industry has been recognized in far away Canada and I am supposed to be honoured in that country soon,” an elated Agya Koo hinted in a radio interview in Kumasi.

Though he could not readily give details of the award, Agya Koo said “I am traveling to Canada this coming Wednesday to collect another award to add to my numerous silverwares”.

Agya Koo, it would be recalled, was among over 200 distinguished sons and daughters of Ghana who were honoured for their valuable contributions to the advancement of the nation.

Dressed in rich white and black 'Kente' cloth, Agya Koo was decorated with the Grand Medal by President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra last Thursday.

Asked about how he felt after being honoured by the state, the top Ghanaian actor, who is known for creating humour with his exceptional remarks while acting, stated that he was in cloud nine.

“There is no better feeling than my current state; indeed I am so proud to be decorated by no mean personality than the president of the land.

“I am highly elated and will never forget this day because this is the biggest achievement of my entire life”.

On whether winning the award was the end of the road for him in the acting business, Agya Koo replied in the negative, stressing, the award would rather ginger him to work harder than ever to reach newer heights in his acting career.
