Ghanaian video director, Babs Direction has weighed in on the seeming lack of music promotion on the part of Ghanaian artists.
Many industry players and some artists have been advocating for a creative arts law that will allow about 80% play of Ghanaian music and 20% or less of foreign ones.
The rationale is that the move will better help push the homegrown talents and their crafts to a wider audience both internally and to the outside world.
However, the renowned video director sees a different approach if musicians truly want their craft to garner massive attention.
In a tweet on Monday, September 4, Babs Direction intimated that only playing 80% local music with no massive promotion will be meaningless.
He noted that most of the artistes prefer spending on drinks and women, an attitude that cannot help them get the attention they aspire to.
"Playing 80% Ghanaian songs won't change the fact that some of our artists hate investing and promotion and act very cheaply. They love to spend on women and drinks. The same women don't even subscribe to their music," he wrote.
