Kumasi-based musician Oseikrom Sikanii has revealed the source of his wealth in an interview on the Delay Show, which aired on TV3 on Sunday, April 14.
The self-proclaimed richest Ghanaian musician claimed that his funny traits earn him free money from fans and that he performs at musical shows, which gives him some cash.
Responding to host Deloris Frimpong Manso's question about the authenticity of his claims, Oseikrom Sikanii defended himself by stating that he performs at several shows, citing the F2 Rave at Offinso, where he received GHS20,000.
He also claimed that he has many friends who often send him money because they find him funny.
"I have so many friends, and sometimes, for a whole month, I would have made no purchases with my money. People send me money. Some people send me money on the basis that they find me funny. I don’t have a specific job apart from music. I perform and get paid," Oseikrom Sikanii said.
However, the host was not convinced and accused him of misleading his fans.
She questioned whether Oseikrom Sikanii was a fraudster, to which he replied that he was a businessman who engaged in one-on-one transactions.
"Frankly, you throw dust in people's eyes. Some of you would claim to be doing music and you’d be buying expensive cars, living lavishly and the moment, you are arrested for fraud. This is what’s happening. Most of you are misleading the youth, and they think all is rosy, but that’s not the case. Are you a fraudster?" host Deloris Frimpong Manso asked.
"No, I’m not. I’m a businessman. I do it one-on-one. People impersonate me," Oseikrom Sikanii replied.
The musician's claims have sparked a debate on the authenticity of the wealth of some Ghanaian musicians, particularly following the arrest of musician and social media influencer, Hajia 4Real who has been charged with a romance scam.
