Money never influences my music – says Treesil P

Ghanaian US-based afro-pop artiste, Patrick Ntumy, known on stage as Treesil P, has emphasised that his musical breakthrough in the world of showbiz is not necessarily for economic gain, but to promote Ghanaian culture.

The energetic Treesil P, who spoke to BEATWAVES said, “Entertainment is about business but from my little experience I am encouraging new acts to follow their passion and be submissive, rather than chasing after money.”

He added that his desire to do music was influenced by the legendary Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z, saying these acts were passionate about music.

“As a young artiste together with my team, we've already begun to make noise in the New York underground music scene and ready to take our message to the mainstream. My debut single 'Vibe it Up' has received massive air play and it's all thanks to my fans,” he said.

Treesil also said his collaboration with Grammy nominated producer Omen and fellow rapper PeeDaProfit on his latest single Right Now had also received garnering airplay on numerous radio outlets both mainstream and independent, as well as numerous interviews on local radio and television shows.

The talented act has performed his singles at several New York City hot spots such as Karma Lounge and Santos Party House to name a few. Treesil's reach is not limited to New York as he has also rocked a stage in Florida's Miami Live in South Beach.

“My life experiences are reflected in my lyrics, which helps my fans to relate more with my song in order to create a rich and diverse sound,” he explained.

The music of this young, energetic and talented afro-pop act is basically a combination hip-hop mixed with afro-pop rhythms and other danceable highlife tunes, which births a sound that is at once engaging and hypnotic, crossing both geographic and demographic borders.
