
This year’s Screen Nation Film and Television Awards, is scheduled to take place at the Hilton London Metropole, on the 19th of March 2016, from 5pm-12am UK time.
Having established itself as an iconic and prestigious awards ceremony for rewarding excellence while celebrating diversity in the creative industry over the last decade, all eyes and ears will be geared towards who wins what.
Classic films that have stood the test of time such as ‘Waiting to exhale’, ‘Boyz N Da Hood’, and ‘Babylon’ are already making waves as the films to be recognized and credited on the night.
Creative talents such as the legendary Wesley Snipes and Carmen Munroe get a nod in the category nominations for a special award.
The Screen Nation Executive Committee bestows this year’s leading honour: the Outstanding Contribution Award upon iconic African-American action star Wesley Snipes.
Also, the highly prized Edric Connor Trailblazer Award goes to the legendary actress of Desmond’s fame Carmen Munroe, whose acting career spans over half a century, whereby breaking many racial barriers.
When asked as to what is the way forward, as far as the Screen Nation award is concerned, the Screen Nation Founder and CEO, veteran international film producer Charles Thompson MBE said: “As Screen Nation moves into its second decade there can no longer be any denying the depth and quality of black talent within the UK industry, both in front and behind the camera, who have proven their worth and established a stake in the global industry.
He further stated that “All that remains is for those at the head of the British film & TV industry to finally wake up and embrace the treasures within their midst, because as others have said ‘a storm is coming ‘and the status quo cannot remain the same for much longer.”
Last year saw the promising Ghanaian actress, Ama K. Abebrese gracing the occasion with her attendance, and as to who is coming from Ghana this year, remains nameless for now.
Entertainment Reporter: Clarke Pentoa will be there to report from the venue to some selected media platforms as the event unfolds.
The Screen Nation Film & TV Awards was founded in September 2003 by the Ghanaian born independent film producer Charles Thompson MBE, as a platform to raise the profile of black British and international film and television talent of African heritage.
