Gbese Court Orders Extradition Of Alleged Abu Trica Accomplice To U.S. In $8m Romance Fraud Case

The Gbese District Court has ordered the extradition of Daniel Yusif, the man prosecutors describe as a key co‑conspirator of Ghanaian romance‑fraud suspect Abu Trica, to the United States to face trial over an alleged $8 million transnational fraud scheme.

The ruling means Yusif will be handed over to U.S. authorities unless he files a successful challenge within 15 days.

Alleged Role In Romance Scam Network

Yusif is accused of working closely with Frederick Kumi, alias Abu Trica, whom U.S. investigators have identified as a central figure in a romance‑fraud and money‑laundering ring that allegedly operated between 2016 and 2023.

Prosecutors say the syndicate lured victims into online romantic relationships, manipulated them emotionally, and persuaded them to transfer large sums of money under false pretences. The proceeds were allegedly laundered through multiple financial channels to conceal their origins.

Part Of Wider U.S. Case

The extradition order is the latest development in a broader U.S. criminal case targeting individuals believed to have participated in the network. Abu Trica himself is currently fighting extradition in Ghanaian courts.

U.S. authorities allege the group also engaged in business email compromise (BEC) scams, defrauding victims of more than $8 million.

15 Days To Appeal

Yusif has 15 days to appeal the committal order before the extradition process can move forward.
