Actress Leonora Okine is set to pick her first Ghanaian award nomination in the Best Actress in TV Series category of the upcoming Golden Movie Awards (GMAs), years after working in Nigeria.
Nominations for the GMAs were released days ago, with a number of A-list actors making up the list. However, the list is not visibly in the public domain for everyone to see.
Leonora was nominated for her performance in the MTV series, 'Shuga', and is competing with equally good actresses such as Nikki Samonas in V Republic, Christabel Ekeh in V Republic, Maame Yaa Boafo in An African City and Nana Mensah in An African City.
Her performance in the series has always been tagged as an award-winning one but the GMAs is definitely a tough competition.
She played the role of Malaika, Chris Attoh's humble and submissive wife in 'Shuga'.
Leonora remains one of the actresses making their country proud out there with their acting talent.
She also featured in different movies and African TV series including playing Angela Dede on 'Tinsel' and featuring in Tope Oshin-Ogun's 'Love & War' and Harrison Arokor's 'Beautiful Monster.'
The Golden Movie Awards, according to the organisers, is an awards scheme that seeks to honour individuals in the African movie industry who have impacted and excelled greatly in the movie world in the year under review, and who have also embarked on humanitarian works in their respective countries.
It also seeks to inspire the movie industry to strive for higher standards and throw light on individuals and firms yearly by celebrating them.
