Less than a year of it establishment, Muda Films Productions has set its sights on making a major impact on the Ghanaian and international movie scene.
Its first production, 'Kiss Me If You Can' has got lips talking because of scenes from its trailer released some months ago. There were concerns over excessive explicit exposure in the thriller.
Last year, 'Heart of Men' became one of the most controversial and talked about movies to have been released onto the Ghanaian market. The movie got a lot of public bashing for what it was perceived to be the amount of nudity in it.
Last Friday, Muda Films held a press preview of the 'Kiss me if you can' movie to give the media a first-hand view of the movie and also to enable the producers collate views.
The movie stars; Prince David Osei, Martha Ankoma, Doris Sackitey, Eddie Nartey, Roselyn Ngissah, Marcus MacCarthy, Mariam Addo, Ruweida Yakubu and Norbile Narbor among others.
The story
Ray (Prince David Osei) and Sharon (Martha Ankoma) are both victims of broken heart who have vowed never to fall in love again. When Ray meets Sharon, he falls helplessly in love with her, but she rejects his proposal.
After fruitlessly trying all means to win her heart, Ray seeks help from a dangerous source. He makes a deadly mistake and now, he must fight for his life.
Trailer
Kobina Rana (Kobi Rana), the writer and director of the movie in an interview with Myjoyonline said, “as a director, I cut my trailer with the strongest scenes of my movie. It is evidently the society because the trailer is 1:27 seconds and there are many scenes above the 3 seconds of sex that we saw."
"I guess the sex scene is the only thing catching the eye but I took the strongest scenes; the sex scene, the chase scene, the emotional scenes, the comic scene. I took the strongest not necessary the sex scene,” Kobi added.
He said the movie does not follow the current 'sex' trend and since it is their first production, they are impressed with the reception and look forward to doing even better in future productions.
Premier
'Kiss Me If You Can' will be premiered Easter Saturday, April 23, at the National Theatre and it will be preceded by exciting performances from Rana, Lady Prempeh, Echo, D-Flex, Slim Buster, Mike, Reggie Zippy, Salsa performances and Comedian David Oscar.
