LEGENDARY Ghanaian musician Akosua Agyepong will give her fans a taste of a whole new experience this March as she celebrates two historic decades on Ghana's music scene.
Akosua Agyepong is one indefatigable female musician who, at the peak of her career, gave her male counterparts in the world of highlife music a good run for their money.
2010 marks the 20th year since she formerly announced her presence in the music arena. As part of activities to celebrate her achievements, Akosua is scheduled to perform at what is anticipated to be her biggest musical show ever.
The concert, which is being organized by Media Excel Productions, is dubbed “Honoring The Pacesetters, Living The Highlife and Spreading The Gospel” and will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre, which is expected to be packed beyond belief as the concert is anticipated to attract many enthusiastic music fans.
According to Media Excel Productions, the concert intends to relive the past with award winning group NAKOREX and also decorate and honor our highlife legends who have contributed to the growth of Ghanaian music.
Akosua will also use the concert to create awareness about family parentage, and for that purpose she will be visiting two orphanages, which names have not been made public yet, to offer free counseling and other services. She will also hold seminars on family issues.
Akosua became a household name in the mid-1990s for both her sweet voice and her elaborate dance moves. Her first album, 'Frema', was full of inspirational songs like 'Me ye Obaa', which became an instant hit.
Following the success of her 'Frema' album she met Nat Brew and Rex Omar, who inspired her to release her subsequent album 'Kokokoo', another instant hit.
The three then teamed up to form Nakorex and released 'Kpanlogo'. After Nakorex's success Akosua took a long hiatus only to resurface in 2003 as a gospel artiste.
Currently, Akosua Agyepong has got close to seven albums to her name. Although age has taken its, Akosua, who now runs a restaurant, is still described as beautiful, trendy and always sweet.
