Ghana off to winning start

By Ghana FA

Ghana would go into the second Group B game at the African Women Championship against Cameroon on Friday with much hope after winning its opening match.

Two goals from Agnes Aduako helped Ghana earn all the spoils in their opening group match, beating Algeria 2-1 on Tuesday.

The Black Queens had to come from a goal down to clinch the win and now go top of the table after champions Equatorial Guinea could draw 2-2 with Cameroon.

An error by goalkeeper Gladys Quansah allowed the Algerians to take the lead on 4 minutes.

And that forced Ghana's bench into their first substitution, bringing on Memunatu Sulemana goalkeeper Quansah on 18 minutes.

The Algerians held onto their slim lead as the game went into the break. Back from recess, coach A.K. Edusei made his second change, introducing midfielder Adwoa Bayor.

But it was youngster Aduako who made the difference when she drew Ghana level on the 63 minutes and was hand again ten minutes later when she struck the winner.
