Bagbin: Public Officials Who Contribute to Flooding Must Be Held Accountable

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has stressed that public officials found to have contributed to flooding through acts of wrongdoing must be held accountable.

According to the Speaker, accountability is necessary to complement ongoing measures aimed at reducing the impact of floods and preventing future disasters.

His comments come amid renewed national discussions on flooding, following recent heavy rains that caused deaths, displacement, and destruction of property in parts of the country.

Mr. Bagbin emphasised that while interventions such as drain clearing and improved sanitation are important, addressing actions that worsen flooding is equally critical.
