Mr Yeboah Evans, President of Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG), has expressed excitement over Ghana's qualification for the upcoming Commonwealth Games slated for Australia in April.

Ghana would be participating in the mixed team event of the 2018 Commonwealth Games after placing third in Africa seeding.

Mr Yeboah in an interview with GNA Sports at the Kotoka International Airport on his return from the African Executive meeting noted of his excitement about the progress of Ghana in Badminton.

'Ghana has been able to get a slot on the management of Badminton in Africa and it marks the progress of the sport in the country.

'Ghana got seeded in the mixed team for Africa towards the upcoming Commonwealth Games, where Ghana would be playing in the singles and the mixed team,' he said.

'The board, members and players are all excited because we never thought we were going to get there, with the way things were.

'We were seventh last year August, but we did participate in six tournaments between August and December 2017 and we were able to make progress.'

According to him, would compete alongside 16 other countries to at the Commonwealth Games.

He further noted that there is an Africa male championship ahead and Ghana would be heading for a residential camping this week, with both local and foreign camping in the pipeline.

The team would travel to Algeria on February 10, to play with eight other African countries to have the male team claim dominance to progress.
