Accra, July 18, GNA - Black Stars captain Asamoah 'Babyjet' Gyan on Tuesday commissioned $200,000 modern sports facility at Accra Academy Senior High School.
The facility named 'Asamoah Gyan Sports Center' was commissioned at an impressive ceremony in at the Accra Academy campus with the presence of Jerry John Rawlings, former President of Ghana, Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports and some representatives of Professional Footballers Association of Ghana. (PFAG)
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Asiamah commended Gyan for showing gratitude to his alma mater in such a beautiful manner.
He said that the nation can only be proud of him.
"We are proud of the achievement of our national football team captain, Asamoah Gyan. Today marks a very important day in Ghana's sporting history, that our football captain has provided such a beautiful facility for the youth of Ghana. It is not only for Accra Academy, it is also for the entire youth of Ghana.
"This is a beautiful way to show gratitude to Accra Academy and the people of Ghana.
"This is what the country wants, people who are willing to die for her. We would always be proud of you for this kind gesture". Said Mr. Asiamah.
Students, Alumni of Accra Academy and Hundreds of Ghanaians were present to support the occasion.
The commissioned facility has a 3000 square meter of artificial turf with beautiful flood lights.
