Former Ghana winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie has been refused a contract by Dutch Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen.
The 30-year-old trained with the club but could not convince coach Jürgen Streppel.
He played in a couple of trial matches but the former Spartak Moscow player failed to stake a claim.
A statement on Heerenveen's Twitter handle read: "We thank Quincy for his dedication and positive attitude and wish him every success in his search for a new club."
The former Arsenal man also failed a trial at Eredivisie club SC Cambuur.
Before that, he had unsuccessful negotiations with Iraqi side club Al Shorta SC and had received offers from Romania and Bulgaria.
