American Clint Scott McNeil arrived at the Kotoka Airport last Monday in the company of his father and trainer, David McNeil, burning with confidence to upset Ike “Bazooka”Quartey on Friday.

In an exclusive interview with Graphic, McNeil expressed his amazement at the warm welcome accorded him and his father.

“I am prepared for this bout and hope to stop Ike, come Friday”, he added. Both father and son admitted the fact that Quartey is a great fighter and considered it an honour to be a part of the much-publicised bout.

For McNiel a victory in this bout will definitely be a springboard for bigger challenges and opportunities in the pugilistic sport.Clint Mcneil will undergo a final training session at Ike Quartey's gym at Kokrobite. One glaring problem that might impede a smooth final tune-up for McNeil is the extremely dry harmattan weather which is completely different from the prevailing conditions in his homeland, U.S.A.

That notwithstanding, the twenty-six year-old American hopes to adapt quickly so as to be in good form for Friday's bout. Clint's father, David, said the boxer underwent a smooth training session devoid of any hitches and is psyched up for the fight. He recollected the period that preceded Clint's last fight against Hector Camacho, where he fell ill and had a few disciplinary problems.

Clint McNeil has also sparred with “Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya's partner Emmanuel Augustus and thinks it has toughened him up for the showdown on Friday night.

For the McNiels, a victory against the former WBA Welterweight champion, will be a springboard for bigger challenges and opportunities.

For the “Bazooka”, a victory will not come as a surprise, but will send a message to the rest of the world that he is on track to recapturing title glory. The date for a news conference with Quartey and McNeil will be announced in due course.
