New York Red Bulls winger Lloyd Sam reacts on Twitter after making international debut for Ghana

The 31-year-old, who was born in Leeds to Ghanaian parents, previously played for England at Under-20 level during his time at childhood club Charlton Athletic but later switched his international allegiances to the Black Stars following the 2010 World Cup.

After a lengthy wait, last night's 1-1 friendly draw with Canada in Washington, D.C., finally saw the London-native make his first appearance for Avram Grant's side, as he replaced Middlesbrough's Albert Adomah on the right flank for the final 22 minutes and proceeded to make his impact felt with a series of impressive runs and teasing crosses.

His cap was certainly well earned, too, given the stellar displays he has been putting in for the Red Bulls throughout this season.

The former Leeds United midfielder, who first joined the MLS club in August 2012 after his contract at Elland Road expired, has recorded 10 goals and six assists in 28 appearances to help Jesse Marsch's men climb to the top of the Eastern Conference with just three regular-season games left.

Currently the front-runners for the Supporters' Shield title, they certainly have a great chance of claiming a first-ever MLS Cup as well, which would cap off a fantastic 2015 for Sam.
