Atalanta have exercised the option to sign Ghanaian forward, Richmond Boakye Yiadom on permanent basis with today's deadline for co-ownership looming.
The 22 year old striker has been playing at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia on loan via the 50-50 co-ownership of his rights by Atalanta and Juventus but per Italian employment law, the co-ownership ends after two years and the Bergamo club wasted no time at all in buying out the player for good.
Sources close to the player who is back in Ghana on holidays, indicate that the terms of the new deal have yet to be revealed but Yiadom still has three years left on the 5-year contract he signed on the co-ownership between Juventus and Atalanta.
It also ensures the Ghanaian youngster gets to stay at a single club in consecutive seasons since signing for Juventus from Genoa in July 2012.
Boakye has roamed on loan first at Sassuolo banging in the goals to aid their qualification from Serie B to Serie A in 2012/13.
The following season, Boakye strutted out his stuff at Elche in the Spanish Primera Liga before returning to Atalanta for the just concluded 2014/15 season. Follow @thedonplato
