Patrick Twumasi: Don't downplay quality of Kazakhstan Premier League

Ghanaian forward Patrick Twumasi has insisted the Kazakhstan Premier League is not a low-class league and it could march the standards of some mainland European leagues. 

Ghanaian soccer fans have questioned the standard of the league after former AC Milan striker Dominic Adiyiah and Twumasi moved to the league before the start of the season.

Things have flourished for Twumasi, 20, and is gunning for the Golden Shoe Award in the league after netting seven times in seven games for Astana who played in this season's Uefa Europa League.

He has sharply objected to criticisms about the standard of the league and insisted Kazakhstan have moved along the transformation hitting football and the standards are high.

“For people's imagination, they will think that standard here is very low. But I can assure you that now football has developed so high in such a way that every country is doing their best an performing on a high. For my part I don't think is very low,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Twumasi, an out-and-out striker, played in the Russian Premier League has season and has explained why he left after the end of the season.

“Of course, I was playing in Russia last season but my contract with Amkar was over, so I decided to come and play here again in Kazakhstan. Moving to Kazakhstan was great wish for me and my lovely family as well so we thank God things are moving as we were expecting and I hope to make it in higher class of football world.”
