Rahim Ayew is on the verge of sealing his long-awaited move to Asante Kotoko after he was registered just in time to beat the deadline for the Premier League, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
The Ghana midfielder is however yet to sign a contract with the champions which will confirm his status as the latest addition to the Porcupine Warriors.
The 25-year-old agreed in to be registered as a Kotoko player for the second round of the Premier League as discussions continue over terms for his move to the Kumasi-based club.
Talks according to sources are at an advanced stage for the Ghana international to sign the contract by the end of the week.
Rahim, the eldest son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele has had to wait for six months to be eligible to play in the Ghanaian top flight again haven come to an agreement with Belgian club SK Lierse to mutually terminate his contract at the end of last season.
The hard-tackling midfielder is currently in Kumasi to tie up loose ends for the deal which will be announced by the club in the coming days.
Ayew will join Isaac Boakye and Larbi Coomson as the latest Asante Kotoko signings once their registration and contractual agreements are sealed.
The ex Zamalek player first made his name in the Ghanaian top flight during his one-year stint with Eleven Wise which ended in 2009.
His subsequent move abroad however proved not as fruitful as desired and is now back to enrich the Ghana Premier League while looking for a way to regain his best form.
