Kotoko Defender Ochaya On Trial At Greuther Furth

Ugandan left-footed defender Joseph Ochaya will not be part of the Cranes squad which faces Egypt away in El Gouna on Wednesday in an international friendly.

Chrispus Muyinda, the Cranes team manager, confirmed to MTNFootball.com in Egypt this afternoon that Ochaya is in Germany with a second Division side.

The Asante Kotoko player left over a month ago to undergo trails with second Division side Greuther Furth FC.

“We tried to contact his team Asante Kotoko so that they release the player, but we were told he is away in Germany.

We wish him all the best of luck and hope will be back from Germany before our crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Senegal next month,” added Muyinda.

Ochaya joined Asante Kotoko from KCCA FC for $30,000 as replacement for Baba Rahman, who left the Club for another Germany side Hoffenheim.

Kotoko are likely to fetch an amount in the region of €600,000 if Ochaya excels during the fortnight long trials.

The Ghanaian giants signed Ochaya for a fee worth $30,000 from Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA FC) last year.

The Ugandan has had a decent campaign with Asante Kotoko in his debut season, being influential in Kotoko's league triumph and reaching the FA Cup finals which will take place next month.

Since his move to West Africa, the left back has gone from strength to strength and has come into the reckoning for the Cranes as Geoffrey Walusimbi's understudy.
