Since this weekend, a statement from the Ministry of Finance released by his Sports counterpart confused all sports stakeholders in Togo. We are moving towards a cessation of sports activities in the country to the chagrin of local federations.
“The government through the Ministry of Economy and Finance amputated 800 million FCFA grant for sport and physical activities in the year 2013 in favor of the Togolese Football Federation and especially the temporary suspension of state funding to the various national sports federations, “ it is said.
A letter that federations refuse to comment on. They feel they should be consulted before such decisions and will spread the news only having discussed with the parent ministry.
This already seems to take effect, as the Champions Cup of volleyball that was to hosted this week by Togo was canceled. The reason for the lack of financial support which the national federation of the discipline is deprived of by the government.
