Accra, March 26, GNA - The Ghana United Supporters Union (GUSU) has congratulated the Black Stars for their 4-0 win over Sudan in the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi.
In a statement signed by Doreen Ayimbila, Acting Communications Director of GUSU expressed their delight with the Black Stars output which has inched the team closer to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The statement was also was full of praise for the technical handlers led by Coach Kwasi Appiah.
"We commend the coaching staff and management of the Black Stars for sitting up and putting the disappointment of the AFCON 2013 tournament behind them. But there is still room for improvement in all departments of the team''.
The group also commended the Asantehene Otumfu Osei Tutu II for his support, blessing and counseling before, during and after the match which galvanized the people of Kumasi to re-confirm that the Garden City is indeed the capital of football in Ghana.
It also applauded the various supporters groups that thronged the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with especially the powerful student groups from the Continental Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The statement also expressed appreciation to the Kwesi Nyantakyi president of Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Elvis AFriyie Ankrah Minister of Youth and Sports for the leadership and appealed to the government to work hand in hand with the football authorities to bring glory, honour and pride back into Ghana football.
The GUSU is made of tertiary education students, graduates and young professionals in Ghana and abroad. GNA
