Multiple fibre cuts disrupt voice, data services across the North – NCA

Voice and data services have been disrupted across Ghana's five northern regions and parts of the Oti Region following multiple fibre cuts affecting key telecommunications transmission routes.

The National Communications Authority (NCA), in a statement issued on Saturday, September 26, said damage to three separate transmission routes had caused service outages and significant degradation of network services in the affected areas.

The disruption has affected 2G, 3G and 4G networks, with a substantial number of network sites impacted.

The affected areas include the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Savannah and North East Regions, as well as parts of the Oti Region.

The NCA said technical teams from the affected network operators, together with the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), had been deployed to the damaged routes to undertake repairs.

According to the Authority, restoration works are ongoing, with efforts focused on restoring telecommunications services as quickly as possible.

“The NCA is closely monitoring the restoration process and coordinating with the relevant operators and agencies to facilitate the earliest possible restoration of services,” the statement said.

The NCA apologised to consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
