November 26, 2010 Accra, Nov. 26, GNA - The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Ghana's local Black Stars amongst the seeded teams for the draw of the Sudan 2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Stars, losing finalists in the maiden edition are seeded alongside holders DR Congo, hosts Sudan and Senegal for the ceremony billed for Saturday, November 27, at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum, Sudan.
Information gathered by GNA Sports from the CAF Secretariat in Cairo has it that Ghana will either be housed in Group B or D, with hosts Sudan in Group A and DR Congo in Group C.
According to CAF, results of the maiden edition held in Cote d'Ivoire in 2009 as well as Zonal representation of the qualified teams is being considered for the draw process.
On that basis, Pot Two will have Algeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Tunisia and Zimbabwe, Pot Three has Angola, Cameroon, Gabon and South Africa with Mali, Niger, Rwanda and Uganda constituting Pot Four.
A CAF delegation headed by Executive Committee member, Mohammed Raouaraoua arrived in the Sudanese capital on Friday to conduct and supervise the draw.
The final tournament of the competition designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues will be held from 4-25 February, 2011.
