This year's Joyce Tamakloe Memorial Cancer Foundation Polo Championship will be played at the Accra Polo Grounds on Saturday, April 11.
Mr Kwakye Dopua-Dei, Captain of the Accra Polo Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Friday that the event, which would be sponsored by eight corporate bodies, was aimed at raising funds to support activities of the Foundation.
It was also to create awareness on the dangers of prostrate cancer which is fast spreading on the continent of Africa.
He said the sponsors include Ghana Electrometer Limited, Engineers and Planners Limited, UBI Energy and Petroleum Ghana Limited, Finatrade Ghana, MBG Ghana Limited, Interplast Ghana Limited, WDP Ghana Limited and Auto Parts Limited.
The Foundation which was launched in 2005 was founded by Joyce Tamakloe, a staunch member of the Accra Polo Club who died through breast cancer at the age of 57.
It therefore seeks to create awareness on the prevalence of breast cancer which affects thousands of Ghanaian women of all ages and to provide various methods of its prevention and treatment.
WDP Ghana Limited, a construction company will be defending the trophy they won last year.
